Trotters Bistro, an Italian restaurant located on the iconic Lygon Street in Carlton, first approached Thirst Creative to review their website and digital strategy. The existing site was lacking visual appeal, had low conversion rates and a number of user experience (UX) issues. One of the most notable UX issue was that the site was not responsive, meaning that it was not able to be viewed with ease by customers using mobile or tablet devices. To help Trotters Bistro overcome these issues, our talented team set out to develop a responsive website that would be accessible from all digital devices.
By using analytics and reporting, our team at Thirst Creative were able to help Trotters Bistro diagnose problematic areas of their website. These included UX issues, a lack of real photography and low conversion rates. It was our mission to help Trotters Bistro turn this around by developing a more user friendly, mobile responsive and engaging digital platform for their audiences to maintain a competitive edge in the rapidly growing hospitality industry.
The project started with a clear marketing strategy that focused on communicating the heritage of the brand, increasing awareness of their function and event offerings, optimising the site for SEO and visually showcasing their authentic Italian menu. Our strategists were able to align their deliverable with the new strategy by teaming up with a professional food photographer who took delectable and mouth watering images of the authentic Italian menu.
These photographs were featured across the new site to showcase the delicious cuisine and the warm, relaxed, rustic environment that Trotters Bistro have to offer. The final product is a sleek, modern and tasteful website that takes the user on a visual journey, showcasing the heritage of Italian food and highlighting their iconic Lygon Street location.
